We’ve planned a trip to Disney World with my sister and her two boys for about a year now, and I am very excited about it. I somehow (magically) secured our hotel room with a view of the castle for 40% off, counting myself lucky or guessing they are giving deals to drum up business due to the economy. Not the best time for a vacation but we used sky-miles to pay for the entire families plan tickets and with the discount the worst part will be paying for food. Good thing I am on a yarn diet (I only bought two skeins at SAFF). I’m having fun photographing the girls for some Winter Petite Purls shoots. Loving all the lovely patterns I’ve gotten to see in person, such impeccable knitting too. I’ve been practicing my photograhy skills, which has brought me the opportunity to photograph others peoples children professionally, which is GREAT for scoping out potential Petite Purls models. Here is a familiar face from our fall issue, M.

We are in a count down at my house, a count down until BG learns to use the potty, a count down until the next Harry Potter movie, and a count down until we go to Disney World. I have two knitting commissions (a print magazine and a yarn company) and I wish I could share more details, but alas I can’t. Makes me sad not to be able to share stuff with my readers, but I guess thats just part of the deal when your not releasing something independently. It is really fun though getting to see the photos come back from those commissions and to see how they have been styled and what sweet child is wearing my design. I guess I am in a count down until spring so you guys CAN see more of the stuff I’ve been working on!

I thought it might be nice to do a little post on miss LG and her progress, 14 months is such a fun time of change in babies. One day she woke up from a nap and it was like she woke up a “little girl” she seamed taller, longer and bigger. More child-like, less baby-like.

I live in North Georgia, and it is often warm here in the early fall. It was 84 degrees yesterday when we went to the fair. This meant it was just about the perfect sort of weather to go in the evening, not even a need for jackets as the sun was setting. I purposefully had us arrive in the late afternoon because it’s been a long time sense I’ve seen fair lights at dusk (nothing beats that huh?) and also sunset is prime time for good photos and I am now always looking for an opportunity to practice. This was also the first time I set my camera to RAW (big daddy file size) and it was interesting to see it meant it took the photo longer to appear on the back of the camera after each shot.

Here is a freshly knit up version of Country Kiddie, this time in Patons Kroy Socks in “Lavender Fleck”. It’s a really wonderful color, doesn’t pool when knit up in this size and looks wonderful with a white skirt or blue jeans. It was about time my youngest had her own fresh version of my original design! I took the last photo at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, it was the first time I took the girls and they just loved it. It was the perfect place for someone BGs age. They had a large children’s garden with slides, and loads of pumpkins and gourds on the ground to be touched and played with. We will have to go back next spring when more flowers are in bloom. The girls loved getting really close to the butterflies, and all the water features in the park are really amazing. We got to go behind a mini waterfall. I think that was the highlight of the day, it was difficult to lure the girls on to the next fun spot.
