I am so excited to share my latest pattern with you, the “School Colors” hoodie, which is simple and fun to knit, with a fitted modern silhouette in that wonderfully bold Spud & Chloe pallet. I used a simple crochet stitch to border the fronts and hood (applied i-cord is another option but takes longer!) and then popped in a zipper (the green one features a fun brass zipper which I loved, but it’s too small to see in the photo).
I had a wonderful time knitting them, and I love them both so much. It looks like they added some really cute and funky zipper pulls to them for the photos and I just love that! It’s sized from 25 to 44, so you can knit it for the young tween in your life, or knit one for yourself! They are both knit top down in one piece, with the red one there is a very simple trick to twisting the yarn on each row, so that you can knit with two colors. It’s like a very simple form of intarsia (and I don’t generally like intarsia, this is so much easier but technically the same thing, stripped down). So no seaming in pesky sleeves later, very little finishing!
I can’t wait to see my samples again in person at TNNA, and get to see the lovely crew from Blue Sky Alpacas and Spud & Chloe again!
I’m excited to tell you about my latest pattern, which is in a book! Seriously, you can go to Barnes and Noble and find my design in a book! GAH! How exciting is that? I think every knitter I know was pretty excited about the first “60 Quick Knits” book, which features all Cascade 220 patterns. This book is a second in the series with a focus all on baby stuff, knit in the superwash version of Cascade 220. There is a wall in Cast on Cottage of cascade 220, that is 3 times the height and width of me. It’s a literal rainbow of color. Cascade offers every shade you could ever desire. I’m planning to use some of it in the future again soon.
The always fabulouse Spud & Chloë sent me a few copies of my new pattern! I can’t tell you how excited I am to have a pattern published with them, and they are just a seriously wonderful company who treats their designers really well. Honestly, it’s been a dream to be able to do work for them and I was so excited to see these patterns in person and get to hold them in my hand and to see my design up on their website.
I am so excited you guys! I can finally share with you my Spud & Chloë design! Technically speaking this is the second design I have created outside of my indie line, but it is the first one to be published. We got the go ahead to blog/rav our designs and I am sure the Spud & Chloë website will be updated soon with more information as to when it will be available. It’s in the Spring 2011 line!
Go give it some love over on Ravelry!
