I recommend you at least read this part of the tutorial to get your brain thinking, Part 3 will still totally apply to you if you are using your DSLR in Auto mode, or if you are using a point and shoot camera. Let me get this stuff out of the way here before getting into the meaty beats about how to use light most effectively.
DSLR Camera Modes (Auto vs Manual etc)
Lets take a moment to talk about using a semi-pro or pro camera like the Nikon D80/90. When I first got my fancy camera nearly 3 years ago, I was using it in Auto mode, and sometimes when I am very tired I still do. The scary truth is I’ve used my camera in Auto for many of my published photos, and they not only turned out well, but really amazing sometimes. I felt when I first started using the camera, that it was far more important for me to focus on my use of natural light, composition and styling then it was to stress about how in the world to have the photo come out properly exposed. Proper exposure is a beast, it’s confusing and intimidating. At-least it was to me. All those numbers on all those dials. I had just had a baby, I was sleep deprived, lets just keep it simple shall we? Maybe this helps you not be so intimated by those “pro” cameras, truth is due to technology they are not very scary at all.

I am never ahead of the game when it comes to knitting for my kids, last winter I kept saying I would knit some mittens for BG (because there are never any good mittens to fit a toddler available in stores) and as I live in Georgia the need for mittens was not very high. But then it kept snowing, and each time it snows BG would go outside in the snow and cry from her hands getting frozen from the snow, and I would feel awful (we put socks and gloves on her hands but they got wet or fell off, we tried loads, mostly everything got wet). So this year I have vowed to get ahead of things. This means I need 2 winter hats, and atleast 1 set of gloves for BG, and maybe a second set for the baby.

Just in time for a quick end of summer knit, that can easily transition into fall with a long sleeve shirt worn underneath!
Knit from the bottom up with minimal finishing or edging, it’s a cinch to finish quickly. You may bind off at the shoulder straps and seam together, or if you are feeling adventurous, just leave the stitches live on the needles, and kitchener them together for a supremely smooth fit and finished look.

Guess what today is? LG’s birthday! My little girl is turning One! How exciting, and at the same time I’m a bit sad it means she won’t be a baby for much longer. I have some big news. I was supposed to go back to work this week after having been on leave for a year, but decided that what would be best for our family would be for me to stay home and be with the girls. Making the big decision was hard, and scary. I could not be happier though! I feel like today is the first day of the rest of my life. I worked for my previous company sense 2001, immersed in cooperate america for a very long time.
