First time to NYC

First time to NYC

So I finally made it to NYC and back in one piece, with the kids along for the ride (they made it back in one piece too!) and I had a total blast in NYC, and spent too much money on shoe’s (never shop with a toddler, you will buy something ridiculous due to distraction and frustration) I’m not sure why I have to keep learning that lesson over and over again. Destin, Florida

Destin, Florida

We took our annual beach-house vacation in Destin, Florida. There is a wonderful little cottage rental in Crystal Beach called the “Sea Belle” it has 3 bedrooms (2 up stairs, master downstairs) and a pool outside, and even better, an alert/alarm that beeps anytime one of the pool doors is opened, so if you have little ones you know they have gone outside, but there is another non-beepy door if you don’t want to be annoyed by the beep. It’s easily 2 blocks from the beach, and very close to a wonderful little coffee joint. It’s also only 10 miles from “Unwind with Yarn” which is in Fort Walton just a short drive down the road, and they now carry a bunch of my patterns! It’s one of my favorite yarn shops to visit, it has loads of Blue Sky Alpaca (even that cotton-multi that I adore right now) and Dreams in Color (I snagged 3 skeins for a proper February Lady) and lots of wonderful samples knit up and the friendly staff you have ever met. I sat and knit again with the same ladies I knit with just last year. Continue reading “Destin, Florida” »

Sending Hope to the Gulf Coast

Sending Hope to the Gulf Coast

We all took an early trip to the Gulf this week, and we happened to be right when the effects of the oil spill are slowly spreading towards the coast. Everyone here is bracing themselves for the worst, and the locals tell me people can’t go down as deep as the break to stop it (1 mile down), and if the small leak which is technically already huge, breaks any further (which is very possible) it could dump an immeasurable amount of oil into the sea. To me the scariest part is that we can’t reach it with anything accept robotics, and the they aren’t working or able to fix it. Continue reading “Sending Hope to the Gulf Coast” »

Stitches South 2010

Stitches South is going on in Atlanta RIGHT NOW! If you are around town, you definitely should stop by. Classes are the big thing at Stitches, they even have a student fashion show! This year was extra special because Ravelry stopped by and hosted a fantastic party with lots of fun giveaways and wonderful sponsors. I got to chat with Sarah for a bit, the party was really well put together and loads of people attended, I’m so glad I was able to go! I took some classes at Stitches South last year and had a great time, but this year I had to bring LG so that wasn’t on the agenda for me, I did stay 1 night at The Renaissance Waverly, which is a really great hotel. It was actually a bit of fun to be out and about with just LG, and she enjoyed all of the attention! I even took her to the Ravelry party, wore her in a wrap and she happily fell asleep while I got to socialize and meet old friends. Continue reading “Stitches South 2010″ »

planning lots of things

planning lots of things

So much is going on and I seriously need to find more time to blog! We launched our Spring 2010 Petite Purls, I had a cute doll pattern in it and my adorable girls showed up in a few photos I took.  My oldest, BG, has an adorable watermelon dress her cousin/Aunte got her and I am working up a new lacey bolero pattern for her to wear with it, if I can get the lace panel to work out! I’ve been sketching, and working on another doll pattern that will be available soon. I’ve also been working on sketching up ideas for a “big project” that I am going to call “The project that can’t t be named” aka TPTCBN. I may have more to say about it eventually, and it will take a lot of me time but for now it’s one of those things I can’t go into, sadly! Continue reading “planning lots of things” »
