Allegra and I were on the YarnThing podcast, you can listen here. It was a lot of fun!
Wow okay 21 months, I totally flaked out on the 20 month blog post, I’ve been super busy working on
Petitepurls.com and trying to get the baby’s room ready. It’s been a weird last couple of months with BG. A few months ago when she was running around like crazy it was very hard to take her out places, she wanted to be “down” and she would run. We’ve stopped taking her grocery shopping or on any long shopping trips to avoid it turning into a habit. Just yesterday I took her to the mail store near our house for the first time in a long time and she behaved perfectly wonderful. She stayed next to me and told me all about everything in the room (lots of pictures of cows). So while we still have our moments (like a tantrum in the grass outside the sushi place on a day she skipped her nap) she seems to be getting used to walking and being with us, and it’s so adorable because when we put her down now she’s sort of been trained to hold our hands. She will demand we each give her one of our hands and we all walk together.
It’s been a hard adjustment for her with my being pregnant but she’s been so great. At night now the husbeast gives her the bath and dresses her. I come in and read her a few books. She’s decided not to go to bed for me, so after I’m done reading for about 10 minutes, DH comes in and reads her 1 or 2 more and she goes to bed without any issue. I keep trying but she won’t let me, and today for nap time was the first nap she wouldn’t let me put her down for. I could of course pop her in the crib and let her scream but I don’t like to create those sort of “habits” or whatever. If it happens more then 3 days in a row it’s going to turn into a “thing” so we just adjust our routine, try something different until she gets over the phase and it works wonderfully.

Wearing her first official ponytail, as it stayed in all day long at daycare.
Speaking of the husbeast he has stepped up so wonderfully and been so helpful with BG. He does a lot more then he used to, and even this morning surprised me by waking up with BG, I normally am the one who wakes up when she does. We stayed up until 1am painting half of the new baby’s room so he knew I was tired. I normally don’t mind at all waking with her as I am more of a morning person anyway.
We gave the dog one of his old toys yesterday, once she was born we removed all the dog toys from the house (except our bedroom) because he kept mixing up the toys. He has bad gums and I don’t like the nasty on her toys let alone his ripping them up. She cried a bit and we had to really watch her, she wanted the toy he was playing with of course but it was interesting to see how she reacted to the concept up “That’s Toby’s toy, not yours, do not take it from him” and good practice for the new baby.
We’ve been busy painting the baby’s room, I’m very excited to finally be getting something done. I spray painted the bird cage a pretty pink and I’m very please with how it came out.

At daycare BG knows the name of all the other kids in the class, and the teachers. She can count as high as 14 (most of the time without missing any numbers) and she is great with her letters. She now likes to “sing” songs which is fun and she giggles at so many more things then she used to. My favorite thing she does now is when she says “Momma, yabber yabber” but it’s the way she says “Momma” as though she is about to tell me something very important and has a very particular inflection to it. She also loves to say “Thank you mama, welcome” which is incredibly sweet and she is way more clever then I give her credit for. Just this morning I was trying to get her to say “I love you dada” for one of those recordable fathers day cards. She wouldn’t say it but she didn’t seem to ‘get’ what I was asking. Oh she got it alright, she just didn’t want to say it because about 10 minutes later I hit record and in a more flustered voice said “Say something” and she goes “I love you dada, I love you!”. Hah! She knew exactly what I was asking earlier but just decided not to do it. Little stinker!
This is such a fun age, I am enjoying every minute of it. She’s still far more whiney for me then when she is alone with DH but that’s okay. I certainly feel loved and wanted as she will fuss if I walk down the hallway to the other rooms. She’s had to adjust to DH taking her to daycare 2 days a week and she is non-to-pleased when she leaves and sees I am not the one taking her. We’ve also noticed that as much as we know she does well and enjoys daycare it doesn’t seem to be as desirable as it had been in the past. She doesn’t give us any huge problems about dropping her off but you can just tell she would rather be home with us which is something new as before she didn’t seem to care so much. In 4 to 6 more weeks and I can be home with her, I can’t wait!
Love the ponytail! How old will she be when newby comes along? I’m totally impressed with you painting and designing stuff all preggers. You totally rock (or waddle – whatever – hehehehe) <3 ya!
The babies room is looking so cute, I love the paint color on the walls.
Loving the blog hun, I arrived on your blog randomly and I really liked it divided by week. Now it’s on my favorites list. I’ve just had my little boy, and I like reading other mummy to be stories. What about the name? I remember I spent a lot of time on http://www.bounty.com/babynames/ searching by origing and popularity. I am looking forward to reading your next post! J
It always seems like they are growing up so much faster once you move them into a big bed. She’s just not a baby anymore she’s a big girl! Your looking really good for that far along.
I’ve moved my blog from yoknit to homespunfiber.blogspot.com
